Sodexo is seeking a Part-Time Registered Dietitian for an Inpatient Diabetes Educator, to come join their dynamic clinical team at PIH Health Hospital in Whittier  CA. This facility is a 523 bed facility with an average census of 320 patients and is located only 12 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

This position would work along side our Glucose Management Team run by our Endocronologist to provide inpatient diabetes education.

The ideal candidate will be a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) or has accrued the required hours to apply and sit for the exam;

We are also looking for a dietitian who is bilingual in English and Spanish, but this is not required.

PIH Health Whittier has free employee on-site parking. Meals in the cafeteria are also free for dietitians. PIH Health Whittier just opened a brand new full service Starbucks within our hospital located at the main entrance.

There are many opportunities to grow and specialize by obtaining advanced certifications (CDCES, CNSC, etc.).

      Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be a registered Dietitian with 2 or more years’ experience in an acute care setting and have prior experience in an inpatient and outpatient setting;
  • prior experience in the All Scripts program is a plus;
  • provide education to patients, as well as staff and work well with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff;
  • possess the ability to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions while working within a self-directed and team-oriented work environment;
  • have excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact with a wide variety of individuals and groups;
  • bilingual language skills to converse in Spanish would be helpful, not required;
  • strong time management and organizational skills are needed to be successful in this position.

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services
Key Duties
-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

Qualifications & Requirements:

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
